Our Work

Development & Maintenance

The crew of Settlers Irrigation District is responsible for miles of water delivery infrastructure. This responsibility keeps us busy year-round operating maintenance tasks, building new projects, and acquiring existing projects to manage water resources - including groundwater storage and runoff.

Throughout the year Settlers Irrigation District is performing maintenance on the canal system, which include dredging the canals, tree removal, mowing, and spraying weeds. These activities are essential for the proper operation of the canal system to prevent flooding and ensure that reliable irrigation water is made available to all of the patrons of the District.

Pressure Irrigation

Settlers Irrigation District owns, operates, and maintains some pressure irrigation systems that we have entered into contract with the developer according to Idaho Code. The system becomes the property of the irrigation district. We operate and maintain the pump station and piping that bring the water to each individual lot. We do not operate or maintain private sprinkler systems in lawns and gardens.

There are also privately owned pressure irrigation systems that belong to the applicable homeowners association. Settlers Irrigation District does not own, operate, or maintain these Homeowner systems. When purchasing a new home be certain to ask for the availability or irrigation water.
