Contractor Information
Irrigation Specifications
For the benefit of contractors and other persons involved in construction and development, we maintain standard specifications for both pressure and gravity irrigation systems. You can find those here.
Pressure Irrigation Specifications
Please download and refer to our Pressure Irrigation Specifications for Settlers Irrigation District.
Adequately sized ponds or reservoirs are required by Settlers Irrigation District for all new developments within Settlers Irrigation District, unless otherwise approved in writing, to mitigate fluctuations in daily canal flows.
Gravity Irrigation Specifications
Please download and refer to our Gravity Irrigation Specifications for Settlers Irrigation District.
Repair Specifications
The service line from the saddle to valve must be one piece. If the service line is damaged, the entire line must be replaced.

Plan Reviews
There is a $750 plan review fee for land use change applications and $450 per utility crossing. Please contact Settlers for information on additional plan review fees. All projects must have final plans submitted with payment, be approved, and a License Agreement signed by both parties before October 15th in order to begin work during the current fall/spring non-irrigation season. Please allow a MINIMUM of two months to complete the plan review process.
Work on any projects not approved by the October 15th deadline will have to occur during the fall/spring non-irrigation season of the following year. All work in or affecting the ditches must occur after the end of irrigation season and be completed by March 15th.
Land Use Change Applications
You may view, download, and print a Land Use Change Application on our website.
Utility Crossings
Plans must be submitted with plan review fee, approved, and a license agreement secured before the installation of any utility crossing. All approved underground utility crossings are required to meet 36 inches of separation BELOW all irrigation facilities and must be visually inspected by Settlers or a Settlers approved inspector. If the utility is to cross under an open earthen ditch, a concrete cap is required 10 feet both sides of the utility crossing.
Any utility proposing an aerial crossing must be a minimum of 18.5 feet above grade. Underground utility crossings are not permitted between March 15th and October 15th. This requirement also includes potable waterlines and supersedes the requirements for potable waterlines listed on page 9 under "System Piping."
Crossing Inspections
All irrigation crossings must be visually inspected by Settlers or a Settlers approved inspector. The developer/contractor is required to coordinate all construction with Settlers Irrigation District. A minimum 24hr. request for inspection is required. Inspections will only occur during normal business hours of operations. Mon-Fri. 7am-3pm.
Water Use and Management
Please be aware that conserving water by using scheduled watering times helps reduce the cost of operating your pump station which directly saves money for all homeowners in your subdivision. These schedules apply to only the subdivisions in which Settlers' owns and operates the pressure irrigation system.
You can find the watering schedule for each property in the District by going to our Watering Schedule page.
